Day Three :( :(

Day 3

Still not taking fluids.  Managed a few sips of slurpee.  By this point I think she's had 1/2 a juice box and 1/8 cup of slurpee since coming home, NOT GOOD.

Thanks to Aunt Dianne and Uncle Ron who were superstars.  They unselfishly helped out every day, with whatever we needed.  I write this with tears in my eyes, I truly feel blessed to have them close.  Thank you for loving me, and my family.

The Pediatrics unit from the hospital where the girls had their surgeries called just before lunch to do a post op follow up.  Ffion was doing great, so happy. I ran through the events of the past day and a half with Aylish and they raised a red flag and said she needed to go to the hospital asap.

Dr Greg Smith (our family doctor) was on call that day, he's so fabulous.  He discovered poor Aylish had an infection in her throat.  Poor kid.  We went home with a prescription and hoped that she would start feeling better soon.

She got worse as the day went on.  The Pediatrics unit called back to follow up with our hospital trip. Aylish still was not drinking, her eyes were sunken, she was difficult to wake.  I was WORRIED.  They immediately called Dr Smith and explained their concerns.  They called me back and gave me 2 options:  bring her into Lethbridge to be admitted or take her immediately to ER in Raymond.

We went back to see Dr Smith.  He gave her a shot of morphine, she puked, and puke again and one last time and then fell asleep - away in lala land with herself and her morphine (I wished I could've had a shot of it).   An hour later she still wouldn't take as much fluid as we wanted so they put her on a drip.

We spend a few hours of worrying, but we knew she was in good hands.  After the fluids were done, they told us we could go home for the night.  Leaving her shunt in from her IV (just in case) we went home.

Night 3:  Bed at 9, meds at midnight and then again 4am.  Slept through until 9am.....bliss.
