Canada Day as follows:

8am - breakfast at Dianne's....mmmmm FOOD

10am - parade, Shannon was super excited to be on the swim club float

12pm - more FOOD and hanging out at Dale & Lynette's

1pm - start frying legs, face, and arms (cause that's the cool thing to do)

4pm - home for a nap

7pm - hit the town for the street festivities





11pm - fireworks

It's a good thing (for me anyway) that this day only comes once a year.....I'm wiped, but it was LOTS of fun!

On your marks, get set - GO!

I'm so proud of Shannon for doing the marathon with school this year.  The kids have been running/walking and keeping track of their miles for the last couple of months.  They kept track right up to 25 miles and then yesterday they all met up in Cardston to complete the final mile together.  It was fantastic to see, there were over 800 participants, the largest kids marathon in the province.  

I'm especially proud of Shannon as (putting it as nice as I can) she's not the most athletic in the family, but she will give it her all.   She loves the social part of everything - which is what keeps her playing sports.  She makes a GREAT cheerleader and will always stop to help those who are struggling - she's not at all worried about coming in last place which is admirable (not at all like Keira one of her sisters).

Thanks for being a big inspiration to me Shannon.  You have been blessed with so many qualities that will ALWAYS be more important than taking gold!  xx

Belated Father's Day

Sunday was Father's day - how could I go without highlighting the 2 men who have helped shape and mold me into who I am today?

Firstly, my husband of almost 11 years. It was very hard for me to find a picture of Richard on his own, it seems all the pictures we have of him are with our 4 beautiful daughters. I love that about him, he ALWAYS has time for them. Whether it's helping them with a chore, playing, teaching or just hanging out, they love spending time with their dad and for that I am most grateful. I appreciate all that he does for me, though I'm not that great at showing him all the time (something I will continue to strive to be better at). He is my support, my rock, I often wonder what I did in my life to deserve such a wonderful husband. No matter how many times I screw up, he's there to fix it, or at least hold my hand till it's over! He is selfless, forgiving, loving and my best friend - I love you Richard xx.

This is my dad. Another example of a wonderful man. I have always known and felt dad's love for me and my family. He taught me so many great lessons, more than I can number. He was always a great example of what a husband, father and grandpa should be and I am thankful for that. Even though I am grown up and far away I still know that if I need him, he's there. Thanks for your wonderful example dad - I love you.

I am truly grateful for the wonderful men in my life. Without them, life would not have the meaning it does today. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Another Ouchie!

Do you ever feel that you visit the hospital perhaps more than you visit family? That's been my last month or so. We've had an infected cold sore type growth, fingers caught and cut in a slamming door, 'the tick', blood tests for Lyme's disease, blood tests for me and now the latest - poor Aylish.

Last Thursday morning I was getting ready for my ladies retreat when Aylish got her hand stuck in a mostly opened can (if that makes sense). She had managed to push it in and then trying to pull it out cut her finger really bad. It took me about a minute to free her hand from the can when I got there. I felt terrible, there was blood EVERYWHERE! I took her up to the hospital when they fixed her up and sent us home.

Unfortunately, a couple days later her cut got really infected and now she's on antibiotics to clear that up! Luckily, after another trip to the doctors yesterday (trip #5) they've said it's now starting to look like it should and seems to be healing nicely.

I think I've used up my monthly hospital allowance.....at least I hope so!

Lisa Comes with a Kitchen......

....well almost! Isn't this starting to look great? I'm so in love with it and it's only the beginning. Here's my new kitchen starting to go in, I can barely contain my excitement. For anyone who hasn't seen my present kitchen you might not appreciate how much this one means to me.

This DOES NOT mean however that I will be spending more time in the kitchen - in fact just the opposite. Here's my top 3 reasons why:

• I'll have a dishwasher so no more hours spent washing dishes!
• A convection oven to speed up my baking, 8 doz cookies in half the time.
• More storage to save having to re-organize and cram everything back into the 2 cupboards I currently have when it all comes crashing out on me when I open the doors.
• Ok, so there's 4 reasons. I'm also going to have to toe kick central vac vents so I don't have to sweep thing up - bending takes a lot of time for me these days.

So you see, I have things all figured out, now I just have to wait to get in....that's the real challenge!

Now Try and Keep my Pan!

We recently had a glass etching activity in Relief Society, something I was excited to do mostly cause I'd never done it before and I LOVE trying new things. A couple days before the class I went to find my glass 9x13 pan.....and guess what??????? You're right, it wasn't there, if only I'd put my name on it before it left the house.

Anyway, I had to buy a new pan for the activity and it was so worth it. I think it turned out BEAUTIFUL, thanks to Sharmane for the brilliant activity. Now my pan will never end up in someone else's cupboard (even if you covet it and want it, it still is mine), as far as I am aware we are the only Worsey's around here.

Oh yeah, one more thing, I made a casserole in it last night for dinner and it tasted even more delicious than before.....I'm sure it's down to the etching!

Tears, tears and more tears

This morning was quite a frustrating morning for one daughter & one mom. You all know the kind, the days you wish you could start over! Well that was this morning.

Here's a picture of one of my delightful daughters who today wins the prize for having the hardest of days.

Let me tell you why, here's her day.

• 7:00 - wake up call
• 7:10 - second wake up call
• 7:20 - takes Piper outside and feeds him
• 7:25 - starts breakfast
• 7:40 - finally finishes breakfast and mom reminds her she needs to hurry, she's usually dressed by this point, today she's not
• 7:45 - tears cause she can't find her swimsuit and her class is going swimming again today
• 7:50 - still no swimsuit, can't find it (since yesterday). Mom finds her old one to wear, more tears.
• 7:55 - mom's getting her lunch ready and asks for her lunch bag. can't find it or remember where it is, more tears.
• 8:00 - reveals to mom that she thinks she left the towel from swimming yesterday at the pool. Through tears says she'll buy a new one. Mom reassures her that if she just asks at the pool they'll probably have it. Still more tears.
• 8:05 - Hugs and goodbyes wiping tears as she leaves for school.
• 8:10 - back in the house in floods of tears cause she can't find her bike helmet. Mom sends her outside to check around the yard for it. She goes back out still with tears. Never came back. Not sure if she found the helmet, sure she arrived at school with blotchy red eyes though.

I hate days like this. Now I feel terrible and hope that she's having a better day then she was this morning. I guess we'll wait and see. P.S. If anyone comes across a swimsuit, towel, lunch bag or helmet that might look like it belongs to Shannon, please let us know!!!
